2.5 stars really. I liked the first part of the book, but I really struggled through part 2 and 3.
The story is set during the roaring twenties in Europe. Rosemary is an 18 year old starlet vacationing with her mother in the Rivera. She meets the Dick Divers a Psychiatrist and falls instantly in love with him. Unfortunately Dick is married to Nicole, who also happens to be his patient.

I bought this book straight after finishing Nancy Milford’s ‘Zelda', in anticipation of the best novel F.Scott Fitzgerald had written since ‘The Great Gatsby’. A beautifully written book, which might explain why I slowed down and savored this more than I normally would. Especially strong is the way Fitzgerald describes the shifting-sands nature of the balance of power between Dick and Nicole as they wrestle with their individual demons. Definitely a dysfunctional relationship, but Fitzgerald captures the allure of that dynamic perfectly.
