My first foray into Munro's work and I loved it. Her stories are small and about ordinary people getting by in hardscrabble Canadian towns. The stories are generally from the perspective of women at different stages of their lives during various eras in the 20th century. The first and the final story in the collection are by far the best. Vă spun din start că, deși această carte a fost mult lăudată și îndelung recenzată, nu m-a atras. Și în această direcție aș putea aduce mai multe argumente. Nu sunt fana povestirilor de nici un fel și nu am putut să rezist până la finalul cărții. Poate nu am fost eu suficient de atentă sau cu mintea limpede ca să înțeleg cum trebuie cartea, dar nu a reușit să mă prindă decât puțin la început. Apoi m-a pierdut.
