Despite the fact it took me a long time to read and I don't much like books that jump from one time frame to another. I did like this book and the insights into the difficulties involved in writing historical fiction.

I don't often read historical fiction, but I did enjoy this one. In fact, I find myself wanting to know more of the history of Scotland, and Nathaniel Hooke.

A decent historical fiction read. I honestly much preferred the historical story to the boring modern characters. There was no reason to write the modern part and make the story completely unrealistic. I had not read a lot about this part of history (Jacobite), so I did enjoy it.
