I wasn't all that crazy about this at the start and then all of a sudden halfway through I couldn't stop reading it. I definitely want to read more of Ghosh's books. ...more

This is beautifully written even though sometimes I got confused since the story jumps around a lot. It looks at two families, one British, one Indian and their relationship to each other. It also explores the concepts of "home" and "freedom" and how wars can shape those meanings. ...more
