The sequel to Things Fall Apart never really could have been written. Achebe tries here, but there just aren't those moments of awe that the first novel delivers. This one is also complex, but in a muddled way, because of his attempt to weave together the story of the white government officials and Christian missionaries with the story of the six villages under Ezeulu's leadership.
