I found the story of Ned Kelly's life to be interesting. The writing style, the book is written as if Kelly actually wrote it, was annoying and distracted from the story at times. The writing is full of run on sentences, no quotation marks, abbreviations and lots of adjectivials in place of swear words.

One of my favorite books. Assigned for an Australian Literature class while I was studying abroad in Brisbane, I was unfamiliar with both Peter Carey and Ned Kelly. Ned Kelly is a famous and fascinating Australian outlaw/folk hero and this book is riveting.
The language was written as if told by the kelly gang. I had trouble with the language. Others found it authentic.
