It was interesting to learn a bit about Chinese history and court politics but there were so many rotating characters and so much court drama, and everything was told through summary narration, that I never felt connected to the Empress herself or her story. I started skimming to try to get to "the point," and I never could find it, so I put this one aside. Bummer! ...more
