Excellent and fascinating story-line, but poor writing.
I found myself eager to read the book to find out what would happen to this poor boy, but struggled over the writing.
The story is told from 11-year-old Jim (who's 14 in the second half of the book), and the point of view changes, where information is given to the reader by the author, not by Jim's eyes.
