- an introspection and psychoanalytical novel influenced by Freud theories
- a development or becoming novel where the main character is gradually developing throughout the story, starting as a unpolished young to a mature self
- a philosophical work especially with the problem of time displaying author's belief on some matters

This is a masterpiece and I am barely waiting to read the second volume. It is a story about life, sickness, love and time. If you look by this four elements, it resembles many novels. But it is fairly different from most novels I read before. It tells the story of tuberculosis patients and their interesting life on the mountain resorts.
