I have wanted to read this book for years, after I had seen a snippet of the movie. The book did not disappoint.
Radiation from nuclear bombs have wiped out the Northern Hemisphere, and it is slowly moving south. Dwight Towers, Moira Davidson, Peter and Mary Holmes are all waiting in Melbourne Australia for the inevitable.

I read this book in my teens, about 3 decades ago. It still haunts me because I think the outcome is prophetic.

Not as good as I was hoping.
ชอบอารมณ์เศร้าที่แฝงอยู่ในหนังสือจัง รวมถึงการไม่พูดตรงๆถึงสงคราม (แต่จริงๆแอบชอบหนังมากกว่าในแง่ที่มันคลุมเครือกว่าในการพูดถึงที่มา)
While the subject is gruesome (the end of life on earth), Shute's treatment thereof is flawless.
