The books in this series just get better and better as the series goes on. This one was really good. I was worried that it wouldn’t have as much of an impact because I had seen the film but thankfully a) I can’t remember enough of the film to have had crucial spoilers and b) there’s always so much more in a Nesbo book than can be incorporated into a 90 minute film. His books are full of so many threads and tributaries and I love that.

Book #7 in the Harry Hole series. A bit too dark and grisly for my tastes. Some nice twists and turns. Found the mold remover a bit hard to believe given Hole, a police inspector, never confirms the services and just gives the guy free access to his apartment when he is not at home.

Multiple plot twists, tidying up of loose ends, and the kind of pace that makes you want to keep reading till it's finished are the things I look for. And that's all here. It is difficult to figure out the order of this series, but it doesn't seem to matter starting at number 7.

This was my first Nesbo/Hole book and I will rate as a solid 3.5 stars. The plot about the Snowman serial murderer was engaging and twisty, the elements I really like in Scandinavian noir were all present. His ongoing relationship with Rakel was a bit distracting too, but there was a point to it. The one thing that kept it from being a 4-star book were the overly detailed descriptions of violence and disfigurement done from a first-person perspective, and with alacrity. I always find such chapte

Harry Hole is a crime squad detective in Oslo. When two women disappear and snowmen are found at the site of their disappearance Harry becomes aware that these cases are linked to disappearances going back many years. An interesting book but I figured out who the snowman was fairly early in the book.
