**Spoiler alert** I went to the movie before I read the book. I had no idea what the movie was about so it was somewhat disturbing and hard for me to come to grips with the story line. To be fair - it was a very well made movie and I love the actors who played the characters. I was not very excited to read the book since the subject matter in the movie was a little depressing. Perhaps this one was better in the original German. I can't see what all the fuss is about. It didn't strike me as particularly well written nor did I care for the subject matter. Maybe it was just me....

Interesting read, not very eventful. More of a drama based, slow moving, character driven story. The 2 main characters are well developed, yet still leave many questions.
Enthralling, fast-paced look into one German woman's (misplaced) intentions behind joining the Nazis in WWII and the tragic consequences of this decision.
