The thing that struck me reading this ancient Stoic text was really how important social connection and social behavior was emphasized. The Stoic attitude was to remain socially unflappable and behave in a socially appropriate manner. Maybe it is my rebellion and need for balance against the seeming flood of individuality and the emphasis on the individual that has me thinking more about community and society and how tied and connected every individual is to social groups, but I'm finding the to ...more
