Commissario Guido Brunetti is investigating the death of renowned conductor Helmut Wellauer who is poisoned in between acts of the opera he is conducting. The book does a good job of bringing Venice alive and bringing the reader into Brunetti's personal life. The book was darker than I expected it to be. Brunetti also seemed to have a rather haphazard method of investigating. I partially solved the crime before the end of the book.
