Commissario Brunetti is assigned tot he case of a man fished out of a canal. The man turns out to be an American army member who was murdered. The investigation ties into an American military base in Italy. Brunetti also ends up investigating the robbery of 3 paintings from a wealthy man from Milan. This book went into vast conspiracy theories which I didn't really like. It also didn't really solve the serviceman's murder. i really liked the first book in the series so I plan to continue it and ...more

I have been reading this series out of order which doesn't really affect the main plot line for this one which is early in the series and the plot which involves pollution, has some weight in a place like Venice. All in all a good read. ...more
