Eco used fog as an analogy and refers to it frequently in this piece. Interestingly I began to feel that I was in a fog midway through when Eco gets longwinded. Queen Loana is a good story if not a great one. I enjoyed but sometimes grew weary of the literary and cultural references, in which seems to be one purpose of the book: showcasing the common culture of Eco’s generation of Italians who grew up under Fascism.
