I think I would have liked this book better if I'd been in a different state of mind while reading it; unfortunately I found the characters to be too pathetic to even emphasize with what one has to go through with addiction(s) and recovery. I did enjoy the candid tone that Welsh used, though, and I liked how he didn't "pretty it up" for readers.
