I'm mixed on this book, because at times I felt as if some main points were belabored, but I'm not sure if I should blame the author or the narrator. For most of the book the reader is trapped inside the narrow perspective of the main narrator, who is fixated on her unnaturally beautiful sister. There are lies in the narrative. I like that.

Once the butter melted on the hot toast I had to begin spreading the strawberry jam. It was important for me to spread the jam so that the black seeds were evenly distributed, but I had to be careful not to let the jam drip over the edges of the toast.
