I am not a big fan of Virginia Woolf and even less of stream-of-consciousness type of novels. So after the first pages and when I've umderstood actually what it is about in the novel, I decided to drop it.

This an interesting story--interweaving real lives and personas with choices made and lived with--or not. I'm not sure why it won a Pulitzer. The writing is nice, the story flows, but it must just be because it discusses homosexuality in a way that is not judgmental. I would recommend this to just about anyone since the story is compelling, but I didn't think it was "fabulous."

I saw this as a wonderful look
at our human difficulty in
living a life that is at once
both everyday and exceptional.
An incredible book that held up
very well to a second reading.

I happened to see the movie first. As great as the movie was, the book was still much better. This author is a fantastic writer!!!
