Nu știu de ce, dar trăiesc cu impresia că nu rezonez deloc cu cărțile scrise de Iris Murdoch. Tot de aceeași scriitoare am citit și Castelul de nisip și, sincer, nici una, nici alta nu m-au impresionat într-un mod deosebit. Oricât aș încerca să găsesc ceva pozitiv care m-a impresionat, nu găsesc. Am ales să citesc această carte după titlu, gândindu-mă că trebuie să fie ceva interesant. Am citit chiar pe internet o scurtă descriere în care se spunea despre legenda clopotului de la mănăstire.

More serious and slightly less playful than some of Murdoch's others, but offers a lot to chew on - I find her thoughts on the different ways people try to make a good, satisfying, and happy life intriguing. Definitely one of my favorites of the modern literary writers.
