ho hum, this one was very difficult for me to get interested in. after about 100 pages I was finally interested enough to read on and discover if the "superior male mind" or the "manipulative" female emotions would win the day. The style of jumping from "modern" era to the Victorian era of the book setting did not really work for me. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was an interesting juxtapostion of two historical sensibilities (1970s and 1860s). The shifts in narrative structure and author's interjections were at times a bit much, but all in all it was a good read.
