What Members Thought

Years ago I read The Remains of the Day, and I was sure that I would enjoy anything Ishiguro had written, but for some reason I hadn't gotten around to it, until now. Honestly very slow and got abt 120 pages into it and was not interested. I then saw that it was made into a movie and watched that and couldn't say it was much better than the book. Long boring but I figured since I committed to NOT finishing the book, I might as well give the film a chance.

I read through this book fairly quickly, but was never able to get fully involved or invested in the characters or the story. It kept feeling like a big bombshell was about to drop, and when it did, it was not very exciting, because it was pretty obvious from the beginning what was going on. I think I would've preferred a book about the complicated relationships and dynamics occurring at a British boarding school over the overwrought "science fiction" twist of this story.
