Why read this account of a doctor who carried out the orders of Mengele in Auschwitz? We already know of the horrors that happened there, the cruelty and unimaginable actions of human beings to other human beings, and how it ends. To me the answer is the same as given to me by survivors of the Hiroshima bomb: to remember. To make sure that this never happens again.
