In a year like 2020, this seemed like a good way to close the year and this year's Reading Challenge. It certainly isn't a happy book nor one that brings cheer, but I'm glad I read it and perhaps learned enough to make some changes to daily life before it is too late.
What a great loss it is to be at the end of your life to start understanding that time lost will not return, mistakes made can not be reversed, and that it is only blackness ahead.

The choice for the book under 100 page category. I have been wanting to read this novella for some time as it is often mentioned in medical humanity class syllabi as an example of how to care and listen to dying patients (as well as what not to do). I last read about it in Being Mortal by Atul Gawande.

Highly recommend. Good book to read in one's thirties or forties as it gives one pause for reflection on current pathways and routines. Did not care for his wife at all, and yet I recognize her. Ugh, the colleagues too...but they are also slightly familiar. Glad to have finished this one for boy the PopSugar challenge and also the 1,001 books to read before you die challenge....but this is worth a re-read at some point.
