This book is a strange combination of in-jokes, weird juxtapositions, strange names and science fiction. It was a quick read, but somehow it just missed the mark for me. Sure, there were many moments when I marvelled at Fford's creative genius, but at the end it didn't hang together enough.

I need to review a few names in print to make sure I remember them since I listened to this one. I first heard of the series when my grandmother was reading it. I was reminded a bit of Peter Grant and his adventures in London.
