My opinion concerning this novel is very confused. It was the most difficult book I have read in a long while because the prose style was so challenging to wade through. The plot itself was fairly interesting, but James chooses to present it in a way that was somewhat monotonous to me, although in a literary sense it was very well-crafted. Despite the difficulty of the reading, I enjoyed the story, as tragic as it was. The lady of the title, Isabel, sometimes reminded me of myself. I am very tho ...more
