An engaging small book about Brida, a young Irish girl, who is in training to become a witch. During the course of the story, she is introduced to two teachers or Magi who will initiate her in the rituals of that particular spirituality. Coelho has blended pagan philosophy and other Christian tenets in a way that is interesting and appealing in a cognitive manner. I especially like the following quote by Brida's father:

I just love Coelho, and he continues to be one of my favorite authors, and my go-to when I am feeling existentially lost or lonely. Some of his writing feels deeply believable and others perhaps somewhat disconnected from real life, magical in a way. He holds a special place in my heart. I'd recommend his work to anyone. ...more
