This is a book about a doctor who decided to make a difference in a huge way. He is clearly a very dedicated, clever and innovative man, who has become an expert in HIV/AIDS and TB, the evil twins of poverty, and found ways to push back the frontiers of treatment in poor countries where help was desperately needed. He also doesn't seem to need to sleep.

This is very well written - definitely not a fast read - some parts flow fast than others - it's really a testament to an incredible human - I enjoyed learning so much about TB and Multi Drug Resistant (MDR) TB. ...more

Farmer is clearly an amazingly devoted physician, and his story is a fascinating one. This book demonstrates exactly why health problems and infectious diseases in poor nations matter more than we think.
