What Members Thought
This is what a romance novel was like in the 1800's I assume, complete with the tragic ending. I' oversimplifying of course. The language is challenging enough to make you think though Emma has a brain and ought to have used it more.

Emma Bovary has no redeeming qualities. Saucy salacious harlot. It was a fun read, nevertheless.
This was is not an easy book. What got me through it is the writing - the individual sentences.
