Ironic and witty (Brit's patented humor), but way less amusing than Lodge or Jerome K Jerome. It is not the point in this case, as it has a substrata that adds up a little some depth to this novel, which could seem to casual reader as lacking substance.

I picked up this book in an Audible sale after it was incorrectly filed in the Sci-Fi & Fantasy section. After reading the description it was clear it was misfiled, but it sounded interesting. It’s a clever book with a dry wit that I enjoyed. Everyone feels lonely sometimes and it’s easy to sympathise with the main character who has reached his mid fifties and realised he is all alone. I think I’d quite like to have lived the kind of life that Aunt Augusta led, so many fascinating stories. This
