This was fragmented and not very engaging - so it was really hard to finish reading it. The premise was promising but the cast of characters is too large and the writer spread himself a bit too thin.
Initially, I thought this was going to be a book that shed some investigative/historical light on the cause of the former Pakistani President (military "coupist"--army general dictator) Zia al-Haqq's death on a military flight back in the 1980s, but soon realized it was rather a novel of comic & dark imaginations, conjured up by a very inventive & colorful novelist. I wanted to like this book so much. But I was confused throughout it. Sigh. I still listened all the way through. But, for some reason, it was hard to follow.
