I can see why this is a classic and why it's a common book for school-age kids. Though I'm glad I finally read this book, I didn't enjoy it so much. The Lord of the Flies must have been groundbreaking for its time, but now there are a lot of books that have similar themes. So the plot wasn't a surprise at all and I felt like I was just reading to get to the terrible ending. But still, I'm glad I read it. It's a classic for a reason, just not surprising. ...more
