Dickens reveals the shortcomings as well as accomplishments of the French Revolution in an attempt to warn his fellow Englishmen of the same feelings of uprise in England during the Victorian Age. He captures the mood brilliantly.

Honestly wasn't super excited about this through most of it (though I'm trying to be kind to Dickens) but the end payoff was satisfying, even though I saw it coming. I am glad in the end that I know the Defarges. This book is a slow burn. ...more
