It took me about 250 pages to get into this book, but about half way through it, something changed (in the book or my reading experience, I'm not sure which) and I couldn't stop reading. I even went back to reread the first section immediately after finishing the book. I may even reread the whole book. It's challenging, no doubt. But also one of the more interesting and thought-provoking novels I've read in a while.

It's clearly a novel for a very patient reader and a lover of literary puzzles.

Well written fiction and well tied together. The author's use of language across the varied cultures added a lot to the story. Enjoyable, and likely memorable - will look forward to seeing if it sticks to the brain across time.

Wish I'd read it BEFORE seeing the movie though as there is so much more to the book.

I blame myself. I forced myself to read this book this summer. I assigned it to myself for summer reading.

So don’t bother reading this review. Try someone else’s review. I read it when I wasn’t ready for it and
