Brilliantly exciting adventure novel set in an alternate reality steam-punk Europe on the eve of the Great War. Lots of things happen, there is much to think about regarding Darwin, religion, the ethics of fabricating living animals to work as substitute machines (when we haven't even resolved the ethics of making animals perform for us in zoos and circus's) and the characters are awesome too. Alan Cumming did a fantastic job bringing it all alive but I think I want to read the book for myself t ...more
