Vintage Bryson. Here he squeamishly undertakes an exploration of "the world's most dangerous country." He has a great time poking gentle fun at the national character, all the while also poking fun at himself. As a bonus, I learned a lot about Australia from this one as Bryson, ever with an eye to interesting bits and bobs of history, weaves all manner of anecdotes into his tale.

Ah! Happiness is reading three wonderful books in a row! I am on a roll!! I'm not sure if I've ever been able to say this before: this book is (quite literally, and frequently) laugh out loud funny!!! And I'm learning stuff! about Australia!

I really enjoyed this book. It gives an overview of a lot of the major places you'd want to see in Australia and some of the places you probably don't but overall it's an interesting story well told. I also learned way more about Australian history than ever before, even after having been there, which for me is always a plus side to a book.
