The book begins in the 1990's with an investigation by Inspector Ze Coelho into the murder of a fifteen year old girl. This story line alternates with Klaus Felsen a Nazi trying to export Wolfram out of Portugal to be used by Germany to build tanks and planes during WWII. After over 200 pages the stories finally begin to connect. The book is very dark, aside from multiple murders there a numerous beatings and rapes told in graphic detail.
