Vacation book #1 - by the incredible Antiguan author Jamaica Kincaid. It’s referred to often as lyrical; she repeats certain phrases and details again and again, has sentences that bleed together, and uses beautiful turns of phrases. These style choices make the book - as much if not more than the story and topic. I find it interesting that it’s described as a book about his inner life - when it’s narrated by his daughter and I’d really about her. I loved it.

This book drove me crazy. No plot, just a series of random jumbled thoughts completely out of order and contains an agonizing amount of repetition.
