The story line was intriguing, however, I was disappointed overall with all of the hype this book was receiving. I liked the idea of making ammends in the future for a lie in the past and the McEwan's writing style had its redeeming attributes. Still a great story, but not as memorable as I had hoped.

I liked this book ... I think I liked it better when I realized the author was probably English, very proper and his writing style seems very classical. I had to hear the words coming out of the book with an English accent.
The story took me a while to get into - there was so much detail that took place before you found out a note was written and a little girl was confused.
Anyway - Atonement is a good thing with the hope that people do actually change for the better

Very slow start ... grow to like the beautiful literature.
