While this is supposed to be a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, Marillier has really made the story her own, and the links are quite sophisticated and creepy. When I started this, I thought it seemed weaker than Marillier's other work, but as I got deeper into the story, I decided it was more sophisticated. I'll admit I got choked up at a few parts, which is unusual for me. ...more
