Definitely a book that holds up to a reread. Really enjoyed reading this with my buddy Lisa V. Iris is so real and wonderful and I bet she is very similar to Margaret herself. I agree with my buddy: this author may have written a few books I can't really imagine myself reading, but it need to at least give all of her books a try.

I found this book started very slowly, and then built up into a nice pace by halfway, but ends phlegmatically. Maybe that was the point. Maybe you need a certain age to be able to see the story from the protagonist's eyes, which I failed to do. I also failed to like any of the characters from the book (Reenie came close to likable, though) by the time I finished the book.

This is really three books in one though the three stories intertwine. Iris Griffen is now in her 80's and she begins writing down her life story for her estranged granddaughter. Within this story is the book The Blind assassin written by Iris's sister Laura, which caused quite a scandal when it was released. then within Teh Blind assassin story there is a science fiction story told by one of the books characters.
