I've wanted to read this book for years and finally read it for the #24in48 Readathon. I finished right at the 24th hour. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Jane Neal is found dead in the woods of Three Pines, shot by an arrow. Inspector Gamache is assigned to the case though he's not sure if the death was an accident or murder. This is the first book in a series. I read the fifth book in the series awhile ago and everyone said I should have started with the first book so I decided to give it a try. Audiobook. I rarely read mysteries but this was nice, with its focus on characters and community. Felt like I really learned the texture of Three Pines, rather than being entirely focused on the whodunnit. I guessed maybe 70% through but couldn’t figure out a motive and then got thrown off. Really liked the narrator.
