This was a wonderful book - all 900 pages of it (and 22 CDs). It is a love story, a family story about three brothers from Hungary starting in 1937. The first half takes place in Paris where the middle brother is studying architecture. Right from the beginning ( and i noticed this because so few books bother to write about this), there are people who are kind and helpful to others, who stand up for their friends and family and this continues to the very end of the book. Long and meandering, but wonderful characters and good story. I learned a lot about life for Hungarian Jews before, during, and after WWII. I listened to some of it and read the rest. Enjoyed it all.
