I am not in the least surprised that this book won the Booker Prize in 2008 and was a nominee for several other awards. It is a remarkable debut novel and I am thrilled that the author has gone on to write several more books.

This author has a very strong character voice in the main character of the novel. Bought my copy on the streets of Old Delhi a few months back...

Reading the reviews for this book was more entertaining & educational than the book itself. I got tired of hearing several phrases repeated by the narrator/driver...I could care less how often he wanted to "dip his beak" and I didn't like the overuse of the term, "sister-f'r" either. The book seemed to take much longer than necessary...especially listening to it on audio. ...more
