I enjoyed this book tremendously, especially the historical parts where we were taken to the long journey of the haggadah. I love it how Geraldine Brooks can create a story for each small artifact that Hanna the heroine found in the book. My favorite part is the Sevilla story, but I love the others nonetheless. I enjoyed this book a lot! I loved how it traces the history of the one book through time and place!

I really liked that book conservation was the entryway into the (fictionalized) journey of the Sarajevo Haggadah. However, I wasn't expecting the story to be as harsh as it was. It was like picking up a Viewmaster to see "Wonders of the World" but getting a reel filled with oppression, human brutality, and historical atrocities instead. Still, I liked the book overall.
