The animals on Mr. Jones farm revolt, kicking out the humans so they can run the farm by themselves. Things start off idyllic but get worse and worse as the pigs, especially Napoleon, seize control. This book was written as a satire and condemnation of the Russian Revolution. I had to look up what each one of the characters and events was supposed to represent. A well told story of power run amok but very depressing.

A very well written, important classic novel that should be in the hands of 14 year olds all over the world. A great read for young adults, and for those without the attention span for Wild Swans. ;)
