Rereading this book because I wanted to see if my feeling has changed about it. Apparently, I feel this book is even more relevant now than ever, considering the crazy world we currently live in. Scary to think that some things would never change, and humans and pigs will always turn into each other.

This book captured perfectly the chaotic world of politics, democracy, capitalism, and rebellion. The allegory of animals is really effective. And although the plot is pretty slow, I gue

ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS.


This was a re-read for me. My daughter's 9th grade English class will be reading it, and since it's been about 35 years since I last read it, a refresher seemed a good idea. I had forgotten how many themes here were later repeated in Nineteen Eighty-Four. Somehow, strangely, this book strikes me as more realistic and therefore more ominous than Orwell's other classic.

Somehow I never had to read this book for school. I feel more culturally literate for finally having done so. It is an interesting portrayal of the Stalinist era and a relevant depiction of the methodology of totalitarianism.

Even though I had seen this in play form before I read it, it's still pretty chilling. It certainly has shades of China, Russia and North Korea also. Orwell was kind of amazing in his way of predicting the future. ...more
