What Members Thought
I'm honestly torn between giving Shantaram four or five stars, so I think it's ending up with four stars. It's a great read, and it is amazing to think of the life that Gregory David Roberts has lead. The writing in this book is so much better than certain other books that are immensely popular right now, which made this book even more refreshing to read. This isn’t my normal kind of book. I picked it for the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge for 2019 - ‘a book written in prison’. I can see why others have it such a bad review. If it had not been for the stories of the dancing bear I probably would have given it 2 stars.
