Es fällt mir etwas schwer, meine Begeisterung für dieses Buch in Worte zu fassen, aber vorweg kann ich zumindest schon mal sagen, dass es eines meiner Lesehighlights des Jahres ist.

A charming book, with wonderful characters and great humour. It was a lovely way to find out about something I knew very little about - The occupation of the Channel Islands during WW2. It's a quick read and I enjoyed it.

Follows a pretty classic formula in telling stories which is what I liked about it. It reads like a book written decades ago. Introduces you to actual events and places and literature within a well woven tale. No need to discuss how it breaks boundaries or checks off the latest literary trends. What’s not to love?
