You feel like you know the people who live on Guernsey Island. You also meet Juliet's other friends as she corresponds about the book she is writing. And I learned of the German occupation of this Island during WWII at the same time.

I have liked this book, even though I thought the author was running out of breath in the last 50-75 pages ... Sometimes, I was felling that some ideas where not fully developped ... maybe it is the letter style that gave this felling, but there are people, stories that I would have liked to hear more of it ... maybe too many characters for reading letters. Something was off.

Wow, this book moved my spirit. I love a book that speaks to my heart and soul and moves me to hope, laughter and tears. There are some books that I love so much that I want to carry it with me at all times and sleep with it under my pillow so that I can dream about it. This is one of those books for me. It is beautifully written in epistolary style with 20 different voices in the novel. I truly didn't want it to end. For a my full review, check out my blog at http://www.booksnob-booksnob.blogsp

A charming read. Written in the format of letters sent amongst a group of old and new pen-pals and friends. Very reminiscent of a childhood favorite book - "Daddy Long-Legs." This is one of the most positive perspectives of WWII and its aftermath that I have read. This is a book you can curl up with and let all your worries float away.

Story told through a series of written letters. One of the best I've read this year! Loved it!
